Albany was one of the founding bodies for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). We have played a part, therefore, in the creation of professional standards in counselling and psychotherapy in the UK. Today, we continue to adhere to BACP’s ethical code, which is recognised worldwide. Our clinical team has specialist training and development. We aim for all our services to be responsive, effective and continually improving.
We have a small, friendly, diverse team of therapists, supported by our Practice manager, who all receive regular supervision at Albany from our experienced senior psychotherapists. Clinical governance is overseen by our Clinical Director. Albany is a registered charity with the Charity Commission, governed by our Board of Trustees. We are a member of the LGBT Consortium, an organisational member of BACP and, founded in 1958, the UK’s longest established charity devoted to LGBT+ relationships and sexual wellbeing.
