An excellent creative opportunity is offered to Catwalk4Power women, to learn printmaking techniques at the London College of Communication (LCC). This course will run over a series of four evening workshops, at LCC’s Elephant and Castle campus.
What you can expect
As students of screen printing, you will each be supported by an LCC student (one-to-one).
You will be offered a tour of work areas and shown a library of activist prints and zines.
You will be introduced to printing materials and processes.
Assisted by technical staff, you will develop ideas and be guided in how to plan your prints.
You will produce highly original designs that will have relevance and value beyond this workshop.
Course expenses are covered. Food and drink refreshments will be supplied. Standard travel expenses will be reimbursed. Sessions start at 5pm with refreshments and classes will commence promptly from 6:00pm.
C4P printmaking possibilities
Women who have been involved with the Catwalk4Power project, whether short-or long-term, have built up a huge amount of creative output. Many group poems or personal texts have been written, and placards and signs created. We have made costumes, drawings, performances, and taken countless photos on phones. All of this is rich material that could be used as inspiration in a screen printing course. At LCC, you might end up printing great art, a poster series, zines, or something else. There will be opportunities to exhibit what you make, perhaps sell items on a C4P market stall, and also publish images online as part of the C4P website that is currently being designed and built.
Because places are strictly limited to six people, there is an application process and submission deadline. If you would like to apply for a position you will need to do the following:
Write to us (approximately 200 words) at Catwalk4Power@positivelyuk.org and explain:
- Why you should be given a place on this printmaking course?
- What you aim to gain from this experience?
It is a requirement that participants must commit to attending all evening workshop dates and be ready to meet from 5pm, starting shortly after this time.
Are you able to do this?
· Wednesday, 4 March
· Wednesday, 11 March
· Wednesday, 18 March
